About Me

The Mum and the Therapist

My name is Mari and I help mums and mums-to-be feel stronger and calmer in the immense challenges of motherhood.

I'm a mum of one and am incredibly passionate about supporting mums who find themselves feeling as though they are failing at motherhood, like they've lost themselves, and are struggling to cope with the demands that becoming a mum makes.

I have always been curious about the human mind: why we are the way we are and why we do the things we do. After working as a therapist in bereavement and cancer care, I decided to put my interest in human and child development to work in perinatal mental health. After having my daughter I was struck by the huge failure of society to prepare mums for the reality of motherhood, as I found myself floundering. Therapy was an absolute lifeline for me and helped me transform from feeling as though I was doing motherhood wrong, to recognising the incredible strength I had to raise my child. I am desperate to help you do the same.

I began training as a therapist in 2013, following a BA in English Lit, and qualified with a PGDip in Humanistic Psychotherapeutic Counselling from the University of Brighton. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and my work is informed by their ethical framework.
